Jamdani is one of the oldest weaving traditions of India where each motif is meticulously handcrafted. The age-old method of weaving finds its mention in Chanakya’s Arthashastra, tracing it back to the third century BC.
Favorites of several erstwhile royals in India, Jamdani was displayed as an extraordinary handloom at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the National Museum of Denmark. The craft was declared a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013.
Dry clean or gentle hand wash preferred. Do not bleach. Pre-washed fabric. Excessive dyes may come out for colored garments for the first few washes as harsh color blinders are not used in the natural process.
